"Michi Abad has gone above and beyond as the community co-chair for Kappa Psi. She has organized numerous fundraising events to help local organizations such as HUGS, which helps support over 2,000 family members statewide, with a child that is suffering with a life-threatening illness or disease. She was able to help raise over $1,000 to help these Hawaii families as they face emotional and financial hardships on their journey. Michi also organized a fundraiser to help the Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary, the donation was able to help more than 500 animals in residence at the sanctuary. Another initiative Michi was able to continue was Letters to Kupuna, which is a program that encourages others to write letters to the elderly. The elderly may feel alone and forgotten. These letters allow us to connect with them to make them feel loved and remembered. A valuable trait that pharmacists possess is empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Michi's humanitarian heart and empathy can be seen throughout the many initiatives she starts here at DKICP."
