Class of 2018

Matt Chen

Matt will serve as PLS Vice President for the 2016 – 2017 term. Throughout his career as a pharmacy student, he has held several Executive Board positions in some of the largest organizations on campus. Matt strongly considers that leadership is about action, rather than a title. He believes that it is a multifaceted activity requiring sharp focus, clear communication skills, and a keen ability to manage diverse relationships. During this upcoming academic year, he will continue his commitment to leadership as APhA-ASP President, A.L.O.H.A. Project Vice President, and Health Screenings Chair of the DKICP Health Fair Committee.​

Lam Le

Lam has served in many leadership positions during his years at DKICP thus far. During the 2016 - 2017 academic year, he will serve as President of the National Community Pharmacist Association (NCPA) and Treasurer of the Rho Chi Society and Treasurer of the Class of 2018 Student Council. Currently, he serves as President-Elect of NCPA, Treasurer for the Class of 2018, and Pledge Father Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. Lam believes that leadership is life-long journey that we continue to develop every day. 

Chris Nakagawa

Christopher will serve as the PLS treasurer for the 2016 - 2017 academic school year. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Ho’omalu Ola Committee in the Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity. The Ho’omalu Ola Committee focuses on creating health fairs for the rural areas on the Big Island, including the last Hawaiian fishing village in the community of Miloli’i. Christopher will be starting his third year in pharmacy school serving as President of Phi Delta Chi and Tutoring Co-Chair of the Rho Chi Society. Through his leadership positions, he hopes to impact the students of The Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy on their journey to becoming leaders in pharmacy. He believes that leadership cannot be taught and only gained through experience. All individuals have the potential to become great leaders. They just need the inspiration and encouragement to guide them in the right direction.

Jeffrey Tang

Jeffrey is an active member in the DKICP community. His leadership positions include the Class of 2018 student representative on the Admissions Committee, Entertainment Co-Chair for the 7th and 8th Annual DKICP Health Fair, Kappa Psi Vice President and Regional Conference Planning Chair. When not in school, he spends most of his time participating in student organizations and giving back to the Hilo community.

Kelli Goo

Kelli will serve as President of the Delta Lambda Chapter for the 2016 to 2017 term.  As a Student Ambassador, she welcomes new students and shares all of the leadership opportunities that DKICP has to offer.  Kelli currently serves as Secretary of Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity and Social Chair of NCPA Student Chapter.  This year, she will chair the 8th Annual DKICP Health Fair.  Kelli enjoys making a difference in the community through outreach programs, such as the DKICP Tobacco Prevention Project.  She strives to promote leadership in pharmacy and encourages her peers to do the same. 

Jessica Lee

Jessica currently serves as a DKICP Student Ambassador, Pledge Educator of Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, Research Coordinator of The A.L.O.H.A Project and Fundraising Executive of The Blue Zones Advisory Committee. Along with her leadership positions, she has grown as a student pharmacist through her experiences as a student research assistant for Dr. Mahavir Chougule and pharmacy intern for CVS pharmacy. Through Phi Lambda Sigma, Jessica hopes to promote leadership and student involvement by motivating her peers to grow. She believes leaders are molded once they realize their full potential and have the courage and drive to become everything they are capable of.

Vicky Nguyen

Vicky will serve as PLS Secretary for the 2016-2017 academic term.  She is actively involved in numerous DKICP organizations and holds various leadership positions on campus.  She works alongside the administration as a DKICP Student Ambassador and serves as a Blue Zones Co-chair for Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity.  For the 2016-2017 academic year, she will also be acting as secretary for the Rho Chi Honor Society.  Outside of school, Vicky is an intern at Walgreens pharmacy and volunteers her time in community outreach. Vicky believes that the quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves.  Great leaders will continuously challenge themselves in order to inspire others to grow.

Vivian Tran

Vivian will serve as PLS Historian for the 2016 – 2017 academic school year. She currently serves as the Co-Chair of the DKICP Health Fair committee, Treasurer for The A.L.O.H.A Project, Finance-and-Fundraising Co-Chair for HSSHP, and Interfraternal Chair for Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Inc. She raised nearly $2,600 for Big Brothers Big Sisters with the help of her brothers and Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity. This year, she will continue to hold several Executive Board positions while striving to promote leadership and participation in pharmacy and the community. Her motivation stems from her favorite quote by Byron Pulsifier, “Doing just a little bit during the time we have available puts you that much further ahead than if you took no action at all.”

Paolo Truong

Paolo is involved in numerous organization on campus including Phi Lambda Sigma, Phi Delta Chi, Rho Chi, and APhA-ASP. He currently serves as the Chapter President for the Rho Chi Society. Outside of campus, Paolo completed an executive pharmacy internship with Target Pharmacy and is currently  employed as pharmacy intern for CVS Pharmacy. He believes that a great leader must collaborate well by engaging and inspiring others.
